In 2007 Dane County entered into a cooperative agreement with Landkreis (County) Kassel, Hessen, Germany to form a sister county relationship. The purpose of the agreement is to exchange ideas and build economic partnerships regarding transportation, education, culture, and the arts.
Additionally, the state of Hessen and Wisconsin entered a similar partnership in 1980.
Kassel-Dane Sister County Task Force
The Kassel-Dane Sister County Task Force is composed of up to eight members appointed by the county board chairperson including up to fivecommunity members and at least threeCounty Board supervisors to oversee the sister county partnership with Kassel, Germany.
