The Advisory Committee on Data Centers (ACDC) was established by the county board in November 2025 to research the impacts of data center development, including questions about energy and water use, long-term land use, and the demands of artificial intelligence on local communities. In June 2026, the county board approved an 18-month moratorium on permits for hyperscale data centers in unincorporated areas of the county, giving the committee adequate time to continue its research into these implications.
