Yes! Supervisors are elected to represent you and often welcome opportunities to attend neighborhood meetings, school events, community forums, and more. That said, attendance is at the discretion of each individual supervisor based on their availability and interest.
Supervisors may attend:
Neighborhood association or tenant meetings
School or youth-focused events
Nonprofit or advocacy group meetings
Cultural events & community festivals
Forums on local issues (e.g., housing, transportation, environment)
And many others!
While as much advance notice as possible is always appreciated, we recommend reaching out to your supervisor at least 3 to 4 weeks in advance whenever possible.
You can invite a supervisor to your event by emailing them directly. Contact information is available on our Supervisor Directory. If you don’t have a specific supervisor in mind or would like to invite all supervisors, you can email: county_board@danecounty.gov
When you email, please include:
The name, date, time, and location of the event
A brief description of the event and your organization
Whether you’re inviting them to speak, attend, or just observe
Accessibility details: Is the event location wheelchair accessible? Will ASL interpretation, translation, or other accommodations be provided? If not, please provide a contact person in case a Supervisor needs accommodations.
If you are inviting a supervisor to speak at your event, please also include details to help them prepare:
Time allotted for remarks.
Audience details (e.g., community members, students, professionals).
Topic or theme of the event.
Speaking order and who else will be speaking.
Any specific questions or key points you would like them to address.
Providing this information will help supervisors be better prepared and make the most of their participation in your event.
You may contact a supervisor directly and ask them if they would be interested in making a 'formal announcement' about your event at a future County Board meeting. County Board meetings are typically held on the first and third Thursday of each month (with the expection of July and August). You can view a schedule of upcoming meetings here.
