Born in the Fox River Valley, Michele Doolan is a life-long Wisconsin resident. Raised by a loving, single mother, she moved to Dane County during high school. She’s a graduate of Middleton High School Class of 1992, a graduate of Capri Cosmetology College in 1995, and has three years of college at Excelsior College with a double major in Political Science and Economics that she hopes to finish when personal finances allow it.

She has a 27-year career in Cosmetology, having been a hairdresser, American Crew Educator, salon owner, and finally an Instructor at Paul Mitchell the School, Madison. Over the years she’s been a PTO officer for Park Elementary in Cross Plains, Sunday School teacher at Good Shepard Lutheran Church in Verona, a member of Stone Soup Squad, a volunteer for Santas Without Chimneys, and a member of Dane Buy Local.

A champion for people, their collective voice and their participation in democracy, Michele gives credit to her loving husband Tom, and her three kids, Faith(24), Sydney(17), and Connor(11) for their unwavering support. Her passion and need to speak up inspired her to run for the Democratic Candidacy in the 2018 Gubernatorial Primary and then lead her to run for the Dane County Board of Supervisors.

Michele ran for the Dane County Board due to her keen and vested interest in finding an equilibrium between meeting the needs of urban residents and the needs of rural residents. Her awareness of how policies, programs and benefits work differently for rural residents is something she feels she can bring to the Board. These needs and resources extend beyond just individuals and families. Businesses form the backbone of a community. District 28’s townships, villages, farms and natural beauty are part of their rural identity and one that is worth cultivating and preserving.

Michele is profoundly grateful for the voters and supporters who gave her the opportunity to serve her district’s needs and looks forward to working for them as well as working with the Dane County Board.
